What AI labs pay for support data
AI labs building support and voice agents pay for real conversations with their outcomes: how an issue was solved, escalated or lost. No public price exists for licensing call recordings, and caller consent decides what can be included.
What buyers want
Records your team already keeps
01
Resolved conversations
Calls, chats and tickets from first contact to resolution, with the outcome.
02
Escalations
When agents handed off, to whom and what happened next.
03
Knowledge base use
Which articles and macros agents used and whether they worked.

$200-$2,000
Typical price per checkable task. A support case with a known resolution can become one.
Epoch AI, 2026We found no public price list for call center recordings sold for AI training. Speech data vendors quote per project.
The wider market
$203M
Data licensing contracts Reddit disclosed in early 2024, with terms of two to three years.
TechCrunch$250M+
Reported value of News Corp's five-year content deal with OpenAI, including cash and credits.
Press Gazette$10k-$100k

What moves the price
- Consent
- Recordings count only where callers were told the call may be recorded, and AI use needs its own review.
- Outcome labels
- Resolution, satisfaction and repeat contact turn conversations into checkable examples.
- Language and domain
- Less common languages and specialist domains are worth more.
- Years of history
- Longer runs of records show change over time and how outcomes played out, which a single year can't.
- Rights you can prove
- Buyers pay for data you own or are allowed to license. Data held for customers without their permission won't sell, so our calculator cuts the estimate when rights are unclear.
Our calculator
How we estimate support data
Our indicative model starts from a base value per system for about five years of history at an 11-50 person company, then applies a sector weight of 1.1x, your history, team size and rights. It is an estimate we confirm on a call, not a market price.
| System | Base value |
|---|---|
| Call recordings & transcripts | $35k |
| Support tickets & chat | $15k |
| Docs, wikis & SOPs | $10k |
Recurring
Paid again every month
Support teams handle new contacts every day, so each month's resolved conversations become a new paid batch on a refresh term.
How recurring revenue worksRules that apply
California lawsuits have targeted companies whose vendors analyzed customer calls with AI without telling callers. We include recordings only where callers were told the call may be recorded, and we review consent before any AI training use.

CCPA and selling data
Under the CCPA, licensing personal information for money is a sale. Data that meets California's three-part deidentified test is not personal information at all.
